Checkbox in Shopify: integration for automatic fiscal receipts

In short

Checkbox connects to Shopify through UA Checkout: in the dashboard you need to enter the access credentials that Checkbox itself issues for the cash register that will issue receipts. After that, a fiscal receipt for card payment is created automatically, and for cash on delivery — at the seller's discretion, either automatically or manually from the order list. The integration is available on both the free and paid UA Checkout plans.

When a buyer pays for an order in a Shopify store by card, through monobank or LiqPay, the seller needs a fiscal receipt — Shopify itself does not generate such receipts, because it is not integrated with Ukrainian settlement operation registration services (PRRO). Below is how to connect Checkbox through UA Checkout: what is needed for the connection, what happens to the receipt depending on the payment method, and where the limits of the integration lie.

What the Checkbox integration gives the buyer and the seller

Checkbox is a service for registering settlement operations used by Ukrainian online stores. When a buyer pays for an order at the UA Checkout checkout, the integration generates a fiscal receipt without manual intervention from the seller.

Who What they get
Buyer A fiscal receipt right after paying by card; for cash on delivery — after Nova Poshta confirms that the parcel has been received (if the seller has enabled this option)
Seller The receipt is generated automatically, without manually entering line items; for partial prepayment — two receipt lines at once; any receipt can be created manually from the order list in the UA Checkout dashboard

When the receipt is created automatically, and when manually

UA Checkout does not create a single receipt "for the whole order at once," but adapts to exactly how the buyer paid.

Payment type When the receipt is created
Card payment (monobank, LiqPay and others) Automatically, immediately after payment confirmation
Cash on delivery at a Nova Poshta branch At the seller's discretion — when the waybill (TTN) shows that the buyer has received the parcel
Partial prepayment (part by card, the rest on pickup) Two lines: separately for the amount paid by card, separately for the cash-on-delivery amount
Any order Manually, with a button from the order list in the dashboard

How to connect Checkbox to Shopify via UA Checkout

  1. Make sure you have a Checkbox account with a configured cash register that will issue receipts for orders from Shopify.
  2. In the UA Checkout dashboard, open the integrations section, choose Checkbox, and enter the access credentials requested by the connection form.
  3. Choose whether to create the cash-on-delivery receipt automatically (when the waybill shows that the parcel has been received) or only manually.
  4. Save the settings, place a test order with card payment, and check that the receipt appears both in Checkbox and in the order in the UA Checkout dashboard.

If something doesn't work out — the access credentials are not accepted or the receipt does not appear — you can contact UA Checkout support on Telegram: https://t.me/uacheckout_bot?start=support.

What happens after the order

After the buyer has paid for the order by card, UA Checkout sends the data to Checkbox, and the receipt appears without any additional action from the seller. If the seller has enabled the option for cash on delivery, a second receipt will be generated when the status of the Nova Poshta waybill shows that the parcel has been handed over to the buyer; without waybill tracking in UA Checkout, this automation will not work, and the receipt will have to be created manually from the order list. For partial prepayment, the receipt immediately contains two line items — for the card payment and for the cash on delivery — instead of the seller having to split the amount themselves.

Checkbox or Vchasno.Kasa

In the UA Checkout dashboard, you can also connect Vchasno.Kasa — an alternative service for fiscal receipts with the same set of features: an automatic receipt for card payment, an optional receipt for cash on delivery, and manual creation from the order list. The difference is noticeable in how shifts work: in Vchasno.Kasa, the cash shift opens automatically before the first receipt and can be closed at night with a Z-report. For Checkbox, no such automation is described in UA Checkout — questions about opening and closing shifts should be clarified directly with my.checkbox.ua. You should connect only the service that the seller already uses or has an agreement with.

Limitations

  • The integration works only when the seller has connected it themselves in the UA Checkout dashboard and entered the required access credentials — it is not enabled automatically for all stores.
  • An already existing Checkbox account with a configured cash register and cashier in my.checkbox.ua is required; UA Checkout does not create such an account.
  • The automatic receipt for cash on delivery appears only when the waybill status shows that the parcel has been received — that is, when the seller creates waybills through UA Checkout.
  • The integration is included in both the free and Pro plans; the limits of the free plan are up to 30 orders through UA Checkout per calendar month and the absence of abandoned checkout reminders, not the receipts themselves.

Questions and answers

Does Checkbox work on the free UA Checkout plan?

Yes. Fiscal receipts via Checkbox are available on both the free plan and the paid Pro plan — the limits of the free plan only concern the number of orders through UA Checkout (up to 30 per calendar month) and abandoned checkout reminders, which are not available on it.

What is needed to connect Checkbox in the UA Checkout dashboard?

You need an already set up Checkbox account with a cash register that will issue receipts. The access credentials for connecting in the UA Checkout dashboard are issued by Checkbox itself — their list and how to obtain them should be checked on the provider's website my.checkbox.ua or with Checkbox support.

Can a receipt also be issued for cash on delivery?

Yes, at the seller's discretion: a receipt for cash on delivery is created when the Nova Poshta waybill (TTN) shows that the buyer has received the parcel, or it can be generated manually from the order list in the dashboard.

What happens to the receipt if the buyer paid partially?

The receipt consists of two lines: separately for the amount paid by card, and separately for the cash-on-delivery amount that the buyer pays in addition upon pickup.

Is there an alternative to Checkbox in UA Checkout?

Yes, in the UA Checkout dashboard you can connect Vchasno.Kasa — a second service for fiscal receipts with the same set of features: an automatic receipt for card payment, an optional receipt for cash on delivery, and manual creation from the order list. In Vchasno.Kasa, the cash shift opens automatically before the first receipt and can be closed at night with a Z-report.

Does UA Checkout see the buyer's card details during payment?

No. The money goes directly to the seller's accounts through the payment provider, and UA Checkout does not receive buyers' money and does not see the card details.
